One day, a businessman came to the spiritual master. The spiritual master was very happy and content. He had lived his long life without any quarrels, and all of this was well known to the businessman.
The businessman paid his respects to the spiritual master and asked, “Baba, there’s so many conflict and turmoil in my life right now. Every day I have to argue with my enemies and friends. My wife and children are always making noise about one thing or another. Through my business, I’ve made a lot of money, so I lack nothing in life. But still, why is there turmoil in my life?”
The spiritual master said, “Whoever acquires wealth also gains sorrow, hardships, troubles, enmities, and friendships. There’s conflict even in the work you do.”
The businessman added, “I genuinely want to live in peace. But tell me, what’s the way to live in peace?”
The spiritual master asked, “Can you leave all your possessions and be like me?”
The businessman replied, “How can I give up my hard-earned stuff? Is there no other way?”
The spiritual master said, “You can be at peace anyway, but you need to be patient.”
“But when will my struggles end?” asked the businessman.
The spiritual naster went on, “One day, life’s chaos will stop. Then there will be no sorrow, no crying, no laughter, no defeat, no victory, no hunger, no desires.”
