1.Some problems feel smaller when we help each other
One day, on his way to college, professor Sunil Basumatary had his vehicle break down on the road. The market where he could get it fixed wasn’t too far, but pushing the vehicle alone was really tough. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t get it moving much.
A passerby saw him struggling and wanted to help. He pushed, but even together, they still couldn’t move it.
Later, three more people joined in, and together they managed to push the broken vehicle all the way to the repair shop. The vehicle’s owner was really happy and thanked everyone.
At this time, the person who fixed the vehicle said, “Often, people have to deal with different kinds of problems. If they want, they can help each other and solve them. But when someone doesn’t help anyone with their problem, then they have to struggle more to solve it easily. They have to go through misery and hardship.”
Sunil Basumatary, a college professor, also said, “Some problems seem smaller if people help each other.”
2.No one should be poor because they give to others
There was a man in one town. His name was Mwnbaru, and he was very hardworking and clever. He did the right things at the right time using his clever tricks, and that’s what earned him his income.
He used to solve his problems quickly. Because of this, he couldn’t always take care of other people’s problems and crises. So, he would call people who needed him and give them charity.
His wife, Swmshri, didn’t like her husband giving his earnings to other people.
She once said to him, “It’s not right for you to give your hard-earned money to others. You care about them, but have they ever helped you? One day you’ll end up poor if you keep giving your wealth away.”
He replied, “No one becomes poor by giving to others. It’s those who are lazy, who don’t do their duties to others and don’t manage their responsibilities on time, who end up poor in life.”
3.Never rely on just one source of income
A senior officer farmed corn on his unused land. He used to come home as soon as his office work was done and head straight for the garden. So in the mornings and evenings, he kept an eye on what was happening there.
He also grew fruits and vegetables on another five acres of land. Since he couldn’t spend enough time on them, he hired caretakers and servants to look after everything.
His workers often wondered why he worked so hard like a farmer even though he had a salaried job. People expected him to give farming up and just relax.
One day, one of his servants said, “Sir, you’re a great officer. There’s no need to worry, so why put so much focus on farming?”
At this point, the officer said, ‘Never rely on just one gain. It’s good to make a gain by doing as much good as possible. It’s good to think in a way that such work can benefit yourself and also help others survive.’
4.How do we leave our future generations behind?
In the morning, a parrot and a crow met on a tree branch. After laughing together, the crow asked, ‘Which forest are you heading to today?’
The parrot replied, ‘In the past, the village didn’t have any rare fruits. There wasn’t scarcity, but now even going to the forest barely provides enough food for a day. The forest is gone, the fruit trees in the forest are gone.’
The crow said again, ‘My situation is the same. In the past, the village had no lack of dogs, cats, birds, ducks, or cows. In the wild, there were no rattlesnakes, rabbits, frogs, or crabs. Now they disappear from the village day by day. So I also have to go to the city for my stomach and my children’s.’
The parrot said, ‘It’s been so hard for so many years to go on like this. How are we going to leave our future generations behind?’
The crow said, ‘This fear isn’t just yours or mine, it’s yours too—it’s everyone’s. Everyone’s heart in the world is full of fear.’
5.Close the windows that hurt you
There was a girl in a school. Her name was Dodere. She had a very pretty friend named Swmshri who often came to class but could speak in a very sweet way while hiding all her mistakes.
One day, Dodere invited her friend to be a guest at their house. Dodere showed her her toys. She let her wear her beautiful clothes.
When she returned home, some of Dodere’s toys were missing. But Dodere never thought she had stolen them. She thought of her as a very close friend and believed she was good.
So one day, Dodere invited her over again. As before, she ended up taking all the other cosmetics.
Over time, Dodere kept losing various things. Pens and books went missing even when she was at school.
Dodere was really sad because she kept losing her things. She felt quietly sorry for her friend. At that moment, her mom said to her, ‘Close the window that hurts you, no matter how nice it looks. A bad friend can hurt you, so you should let a bad friend go right away.’
6.Nurturing brings good results
A child planted a tree next to their house and took care of it every day. He watered it, fertilized it, and even put up a fence to keep other animals from hurting it.
After a few years, the tree grew big and strong, full of branches and leaves. Its beauty made the child really happy. In the summer, the tree offered shade, and the child enjoyed sleeping under it.
There were beautiful flowers blooming on the tree branch, and it made the child very happy. The boy’s friends from the village came to see the flowers and praised him for planting such a lovely tree.
Once, the tree had fruits on its branches. The child was very happy to eat them and could satisfy his hunger with the tree’s fruits. The birds also sang songs from the tree branches. The child loved the beautiful birds, and their music brought him great joy.
One day, the child’s father invited an educated man to visit. During his visit, the guest asked about the tree. He then told the child, “When you wish well for others, good things will come back to you. This is the law of nature.”
He added, “Taking care brings good results. Don’t waste your efforts. There’s no harm in caring. But only if the tree is cared for can we hope to enjoy its benefits.”
7.Never put the keys of your happiness in someone else’s pocket
There was a very beautiful and always cheerful girl in a village. She always did her chores on time, went to school on time, and came back home on time. She was always kind and friendly to everyone. She could really enjoy herself whenever she had fun.
Her name was Monalisa Brahma, but her friends called her Mona. Among them was a girl named Helena who was very unhappy. Her family was quite wealthy, yet she was never really happy. She didn’t want others to be happy either, since she couldn’t live in peace herself. She only felt happy when she saw others struggling and in pain.
One day Helena said to Monalisa, “Friend, you are the best friend I have. Would you be able to come over to our house as a guest tomorrow?”
Monalisa said, “Sorry, mate, I have some work to do at home tomorrow. My mom wants me to help her during the school holidays.”
A few days later, Helena said, “Hey friend, I told my mom about you. She wants to meet you. Can you come over to our house tomorrow?”
This time, Monalisa went over to Helena’s village. Helena made her feel comfortable as soon as she got there. She said, “You’re such a normal girl, but you’re like a stupid girl sometimes. You’re usually happy, but what makes you different from us? You’re so poor, why aren’t you upset about it?”
For several days, Monalisa felt troubled. Her family was poor, with simple food and drinks, normal clothes, and basic makeup. She thought she was unlucky to be born into a humble family. She felt bad that she couldn’t ask her dad for certain things.
Her mom and dad were upset too. They felt bad that they couldn’t give their daughter everything she needed. They apologized to her, Mona Lisa. They borrowed from others to get her what she needed. Monalisa got what she wanted, but she wasn’t happy seeing them miserable and working so hard.
It took many days and nights of feeling down before he finally realized one day, ‘Never hand over the key to your happiness to anyone else. I made the mistake of giving my key to a friend like that and ended up losing my happiness.’
8.Keep your financial life seriously
There was a very poor man named Mithinga. At first, he didn’t work at all, and his mother and father spent a lot of money to educate him. He didn’t study properly. He spent the money his parents sent him hanging out with friends and being irresponsible. Eventually, he gave up on his education.
Mithinga’s friends gradually left him. Everyone was busy with their own families. No one had time to talk to anyone.
Mithinga also grew older. The time came to take care of his mother and father. So he got married. But running his household brought a lot of financial troubles.
He had to deal with every problem, every need for himself and his family. Every day, new crises, problems, and disasters would appear in the family.
He didn’t even have time to rest while collecting money for some village festivities, community events, kids’ clothes, and their education.
One day, Mithinga’s father became very seriously ill. Because of financial struggles, he couldn’t take him to a big hospital. So, his father had to pass away.
Before he died, the father said, “Be smart with your money. Teach your kids the same way. Make a lot of money because the world is too tough for those who are poor.”
9.Don’t ruin your crop by being unpredictable with the weather
A farmer planted a mango tree near his house. At one point, it produced a lot of fruit. The farmer was very happy and decided to share it with all the children in his village when the fruits were ripe.
The farmer had a son. One day, while his father was away, he called three of his friends and started picking the fruits.
The kids ate the mangoes and threw them away, thinking they weren’t tasty. So, assuming all the mangoes would taste sour , they tried to destroy them by throwing stones at them.
An educated man in the village saw what they were doing. He didn’t like it. He said, “Don’t ruin your crop because you can’t wait for the right time. You won’t get it right away, so wait until the mangoes are ready. Ripe mangoes are sweet when they’re ripe. You just have to wait for the season.”
10.Sometimes moving forward starts with letting something go.
We have some habits that constantly hold us back from moving forward.
Negative and weak thoughts also stop us from progressing. No matter what we’re aiming to become, or what anyone says, these weak thoughts get in the way.
Fear is one of our weaknesses, which is why we need to get better at pushing ahead. It keeps us from doing anything. We hold back because we’re afraid of what’s coming or what we’ll face on the way until we actually arrive, or what will happen once we get there.
Our past—everything we’ve done, the mistakes we’ve made, and some really bad decisions—can keep holding us back. We tend to get stuck thinking about those big screw-ups. Somehow, we feel okay moving forward with these things still in our lives. It makes us feel trapped, unlucky, and unsure if we’ll ever get another chance.
Sometimes moving forward starts with letting something go.
To rise up, we have to leave behind old habits, negative thoughts, fears, and things from the past. We need to keep our face, mind, and steps focused on moving ahead.
